It’s been longer than I thought it would be since I wrote last. Something about the last few weeks has been different. I’ve slowed down, but not from exhaustion or avoidance. I’ve recognized how much slower I really could take it to sink into the present. I’ve had meaningful conversations, and done chores in a more mindful way. I took a break from readings and when I returned to my practice, I found a renewed sense of gratitude that this gets to be my path.
Last night I had my first private tarot party of 2026, and my uncle gifted me a 100 year old tarot deck from Italy. He is a retired physician, and was gifted them from a patient long ago, keeping it in his medical bag for years. They are in incredible condition considering the life they have lived, and I cannot wait to get to know them and continue their journey of offering guidance. We talked for a while about the blessing it is to hold space and care for others, to be a listening ear and to just be the person someone opens up to; even without the resources or the words they need, sometimes just being there is the medicine.
As I spend some solo quality time with Nana, I am reminded of this once more. We’re doing the things she needs to get done (packing up Christmas, de-cluttering the closets, returning and exchanging gifts,) but we’re also working on a 1000 piece puzzle, and eating chocolate pudding late at night and planning my wedding (no, you didn’t miss anything. . . I’m not engaged LOL.)
At age 28, I have way less of a plan than I did when I was 21. I have many dreams and aspirations, but they all can take me in different directions, and I’m not sure the where and the when of a lot of it. And the truth is, I’m happier than I have ever been. I look in the mirror and I see someone I love. And I look different from 21, but I give myself a little extra love for her, because she didn’t feel the same.
The irony of it all, as a recovering 5 year planner, is that the mystery is now my favorite part of life. The days with no plan could end in the most memorable times, and the days with plans could be changed last minute anyway.
As always, I am reminded that time is our most abundant currency. Hope you use it wisely. Sending love.
